ManaView Posting Rules

1. Purpose and Scope #

ManaView is a place for neighbors around our Milwaukee and Brookfield stores to find what's available, get matched, and exchange locally. These rules apply to everything posted or sent through ManaView: listings, job posts, photos, profile details, messages, reports, and business flyers. You must be 18 or older to post or send messages (Terms of Use, Section 3). Every listing is reviewed before it goes live, and we may remove anything that breaks these rules, even after it's published.

2. Basic Standards for Every Listing #

2.1 Be accurate. Describe the item or service honestly, including its condition, size, quantity, and any defects. State the real price; no bait prices, "make an offer" placeholders for items with a set price, or prices that change after a buyer replies.

2.2 Use your own photos of the actual item, taken by you. No stock photos, screenshots of other listings, or images you don't have the right to use.

2.3 Be local. Items and services must be available in the Milwaukee or Brookfield area. No shipping-only listings.

2.4 One item or service per listing, in the right category. Don't post the same item more than once; renew it instead.

2.5 Keep contact on ManaView. Don't put phone numbers, emails, social handles, payment usernames, or links in listings or photos; they are hidden automatically. Business Users may show their verified business phone only as allowed for business flyers.

2.6 Personal vs business. Personal listings are for your own personal items and occasional casual services. If you sell regularly, run a business, or resell inventory, use a business flyer.

2.7 Listings last 30 days and can be renewed. Mark items sold or remove them once they're gone.

  • Multi-level marketing, pyramid schemes, "work from home" or "earn money fast" offers, and paid job-placement fees.

  • Services that promise results outside the provider's control, such as guaranteed earnings, investment returns, visa or job outcomes, recovery of online accounts, or medical cures.

  • Academic or workplace dishonesty, such as taking exams, writing assignments, or completing job-screening tests for someone else.
  • Fake reviews, followers, clicks, or ratings; hacking, account access, or anything that breaks another platform's rules.

6. Housing, Rooms, and Rentals #

6.1 You may list only property you own or are authorized in writing to rent or sublet, at the real address area, price, and availability.

6.2 Fair housing. Housing listings must not state or imply any preference, limitation, or discrimination based on:

  • Federal law: race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status (including children under 18 and pregnancy), or national origin;
  • Wisconsin law (in addition): sexual orientation, marital status, status as a victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or stalking, lawful source of income, age, or ancestry; this includes a person with a disability keeping a service animal or emotional support animal;
  • Milwaukee County (in addition): creed, receipt of rental or housing assistance (such as housing vouchers), gender identity and gender expression, and status in a domestic partnership;
  • City of Milwaukee (in addition): gender identity, past or present military service, genetic identity, and homelessness;
  • or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law where the housing is located.

Describe the space, the rent, and the rules of the home, not the kind of person you want.

6.3 Don't ask for deposits, application fees, or rent before the renter has seen the property in person or by live video and signed a written agreement.

6.4 Short-term and vacation rentals must follow local short-term rental rules.

7. Jobs and Volunteering #

7.1 Real, paid, local jobs only. Post only current, paid positions that you are authorized to fill, located in the Milwaukee or Brookfield area. Name the employer (or say "household" for home employment); recruiters and staffing agencies must name the employer they recruit for. Unpaid work, internships without pay, and "work in exchange for housing, food, or sponsorship" are not allowed as jobs; volunteer roles with nonprofits follow Sections 7.9–7.12.

7.2 Be clear about pay and the job. State the pay (an hourly rate or a range), schedule, and main duties. Commission-only, "unlimited earning potential," and recruitment-based pay are not allowed. One post per role; don't repost to move it up.

7.3 No fees, ever. Never charge applicants for applying, training, equipment, uniforms, background checks, or placement.

7.4 Equal opportunity. Job posts must not state or imply a preference, limitation, or exclusion based on:

  • Federal law: race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), national origin, age (40 and over), disability, genetic information, or military service;
  • Wisconsin law (in addition): age, creed, marital status, ancestry, arrest record, conviction record, military service, use or nonuse of lawful products off the employer's premises during nonworking hours, or declining to attend meetings or communications about religious or political matters; Wisconsin also restricts genetic testing and honesty testing of applicants;
  • City and County of Milwaukee (in addition): gender identity or expression and any other characteristic protected by local ordinance;
  • ManaView rule: caste, region, or community.

Describe the skills and duties the job needs, not the kind of person you want.

7.5 Work authorization. You may state that applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

7.6 Language. You may require the language skills the job genuinely needs (for example, "fluent in Telugu and English for customer service"), but not a "native speaker."

7.7 Protect applicants. Don't ask for Social Security numbers, bank details, copies of IDs, or any payment before a written job offer, and never ask applicants to download software, deposit checks, forward packages, or move money for you. Those are the most common job scams.

7.8 You are the employer. Mawrix and the Store Operators are not the employer or an employment agency for jobs posted by others. Employers are responsible for complying with wage, hour, tax, safety, and employment laws.

7.9 Who may post volunteer opportunities. Only religious, charitable, civic, humanitarian, or similar nonprofit organizations, and public agencies, may post volunteer opportunities, and only for charitable, religious, civic, or public-service work (for example, temple and festival events, food drives, tutoring, or community clean-ups). Name the organization.

7.10 No unpaid work for businesses. For-profit businesses, including stores, restaurants, and home businesses, may not post volunteer, unpaid, or "trial" work of any kind; those are paid jobs under Section 7.1. Nonprofits may not use volunteers for their commercial activities, such as running a shop, or to replace paid staff.

7.11 Volunteers are unpaid. Volunteers may not be paid wages or goods in exchange for their time; reimbursing reasonable out-of-pocket expenses is allowed. Never charge anyone a fee to volunteer.

7.12 Safety. Organizations are responsible for screening volunteers who will work with children or vulnerable adults, and for the safety of their activities.

8. Vehicles #

8.1 You may sell your own personal car, motorcycle, or other vehicle under For sale if the title is in your name and you can transfer it at the time of sale.

8.2 Disclose the vehicle's actual mileage, any salvage, rebuilt, or flood title, known defects, and open recalls. Photos must show the actual vehicle.

8.3 Selling vehicles regularly, or on behalf of others, may require a dealer license. Dealers and frequent sellers must use business flyers.

8.4 Don't list vehicles with liens you can't clear at sale, altered odometers, or removed or disabled emissions or safety equipment.

9. Prohibited Content and Conduct #

  • Hate speech, slurs, or content that demeans people for who they are, including their religion, caste, region, or language.
  • Harassment, threats, bullying, stalking, or encouraging violence.
  • Posting someone else's personal information, photos, or private messages without permission.
  • Scams and fraud, including requests for advance payment, gift cards, wire transfers, or verification codes; overpayment or fake-check schemes; and "shipping only" offers.
  • Spam: repeated or duplicate posts, keyword stuffing, unrelated tags, chain messages, and unsolicited promotional messages.
  • Misleading listings: bait-and-switch, fake giveaways, fake scarcity, or prices that differ from what you'll actually charge.
  • Unsupported claims that an item or business is halal, organic, certified, licensed, or approved; you must be able to show proof on request.
  • Impersonating another person, business, or Mana Desi Market, or holding more than one personal account.
  • Links to outside websites, payment pages, or messaging groups (business flyers may include the business's own website where allowed).
  • Political campaign or issue advertising in business flyers or paid placements.
  • Sexual, graphic, or violent images.
  • Anything that violates someone's intellectual property or privacy rights.

10. Staying Safe #

  • Meet in a public place during the day; our store parking lots are a good option.
  • Inspect items before paying. Never pay in advance for something you haven't seen.
  • Never share verification codes, and never pay with gift cards or wire transfers to someone you don't know.
  • Be wary of offers to overpay, requests to move to another app, or pressure to act fast.
  • For rentals, see the place in person or on a live video call before paying anything.

11. Reporting, Enforcement, and Appeals #

11.1 Report any listing, job post, message, or user from its menu. Reports are confidential; we don't tell the reported user who reported them.

11.2 Enforcement. Depending on how serious the violation is, we may remove the content, limit features, or suspend or close the account:

ViolationUsual action
Minor (wrong category, missing detail, duplicate)Listing returned for edits
Repeated minor, or a prohibited itemRemoval and a warning; a second time, a 7-day posting pause
Third violation within 12 monthsAccount closed
Scams, threats, hate speech, illegal goods, or harm to a personImmediate account closure and, where appropriate, a report to authorities

11.3 Appeals. If you believe we made a mistake, contact us within 30 days, as described in Section 12.3 of the Terms of Use. A different reviewer will look at the decision where possible.

11.4 Changes. We may update these rules. The current version is always on this page, with its effective date.
